WITH TWO PREFACES BY GABRIEL GARCÍA MÁRQUEZ AND JORGE AMADO

Fidel includes four historical interviews that Fidel Castro released to Gianni Minà. Two of them, released respectively in 1987 and 1990, at the time, therefore, of the collapse of the communist regimes in Eastern Europe, represent a unique opportunity to reflect on one of the longest-lasting Revolutions in history, despite both the mythologies and the a prior condemnations.

From the years of the revolt against the regime of Fulgencio Batista to the friendship and partnership with Che Guevara; from the US embargo and the Bay of Pigs disaster to the missile crisis; from the relations with Soviet Union to the long season of economic reforms, from the question of human rights and their respect, Fidel does not avoid the discussion, nor does Minà avoid the task of asking hard questions.

What emerges is the portrait of a complex man of great depth, fascinating in the coexistence of light and shadow, capable of understanding the problems of the new millennium well in advance, first and foremost the environmental issue.
